Sephora Formula X Solar Flare is a shimmery red for cloudy days

This is perfect for those rainy days when you don't know what to wear, but you want your nails to pop!  I remember seeing this at the store and thinking that it might be too loud for me, but in this Winter weather, I was able to pull it off :)

Cadillacquer The Rest Is Silence is a light blue with pink shimmer and microflakies

I got 2 seconds of sun, and snapped these pics.  This was a souvenier from when I went to visit my friend K.  I had been meaning to buy this one for a while, but it seems to be sold out all the time.  I really love it, the shimmer and the microflakies really make this special.  It was a perfect two-coater.  The holographic dust is very subtle, and it can only be seen when there is lots of light, which wasn't the case here.  I really like pastel colors for Winter, and this one made my day.

Hey lovelies!  These were other pics in my laptop, waiting to be posted.  I finally figured out how to connect to the wifi from where I am.  There is no sun here, just as I predicted it, but if I do get a little over the weekend, I will try to take some pics of the nail polishes I brought with me.  A lot of people ask me, do you travel with nail polish? and I always ask, don't you? o.O

Dare To Wear Neontopia over beige

I know I had mentioned yesterday about a blog sale, but unfortunately, we ran out of time and I had to leave all this stuff.  When a nail polish stash overgrows to 3,000+ it is a huge undertake to prioritize what to sell.  We tried different things, and it seems like Mystery bags will be the way to go for most of these.  I will keep you guys updated, I am not sure if I'll post them here.  Big nail polish stashes are almost like a big bush or some sort of a monster plant, with a life of its own.  A word of advice, keep your stash in check and don't ever let it take over your closet, because when you want to trim it, it can be too late.

Anyway, that was my PSA for the day,

By the time that this is posted, I'll be flying to the middle of nowhere.  These pics have been sitting on my computer for a while.  I think they represent the adventure that I am embarking on now.  All the colorful neon glitters over a neutral background.  On one hand, there are all of these unexpected and joyful hues throughout the day, of the new and undiscovered; and on the other hand, the reality of why I am doing it, and what it means to me.  This layering combo sort of resembles how reality (the beige) can look better, by keeping it together, incorporating hobbies and happy moments (the glitters).

Update on my new job and endevors

Hey lovelies, the reason why I've been MIA is because I had to travel sooner than expected.  I don't know if I'll be able to blog next week, but I will try my best.  I found a cheap flight and came to visit my friend K and help her destash a bit.  I'll be posting her stuff on the Blog Sale Tab throughout the day.  There is lots of polish here (more than 5 helmers), but ironically, I haven't had a chance to try any, since we've been working on destashing... Also, there is no sun here, but look at this view:

Lacquistry Obsessed is a glittery purple jelly for purple lovers

When the words holo, color-shifting and purple are mentioned in a description, I go bonkers.  I was so glad I got one of these babies, and that it was all I dreamed it would be.  This glitter is completely underrated, seriously gorgeous.  The formula was on the thick side, but thinner fixed that right away.

Guerlain 862 is a shimmery white with an ethereal quality

White nails are hard to pull off, especially if there is visible nail line (VNL), but not with this high-end lacquer.  I really love the shimmers in this one, they have a slight color shift.  I will definitely layer this over some colors and report back over which ones it looks best.

Short to long break coming up in February

No easy way to say this but, I have found a new job that requires me to travel for two weeks to a place where there is no sun *sob*  Moreover, this job does not allow the use of nail polish *the horror!!*  I hate to break it to you guys, but I'll have to place the blog in hiatus for the month of February, and who knows if a bit more after that.  At least until I get a routine going.  My schedule will be all over the place, and I will know more in the coming weeks.  My most sincere apologies :(

Picture Polish Holiday over a fun and girly gradient

Sorry for the late post, but today was the SV restock, and I got caught up on shipping.  This is getting easier now.  On that note, as much as I love the "nail polish world", I'll probably have to take a break from it >.< I'll post the dates on Sunday, after I figure it out.  Most likely, the blog will 'take one for the team', because it's always the one that 'gets put on the back burner'.

A couple of weeks ago, I was mentioning how I disliked sponge gradients.  Yet, I still want to keep practicing until I get it down.  You, my lovely readers, will have to endure some more of these :)  I mean, it's not too bad, I guess, but if you really look at it closely, it seems that I overdid it on the clean-up portions.

This Picture Polish inspired me to do something cute and girly.  I wanted to love this, and I wanted to love this topper, but I have mixed feelings.  On one hand, it seems that it just doesn't have enough flakies, and on the other hand, it looked way better on the bottle than on the nails.  As always, I will have to try other layering combinations.

Sephora Moon Glow over Femme Fatale Ink of the Sea and Color Club Beyond

This is a post of pics taken in different days.  Shown first, is the amazing Femme Fatale Ink of the Sea by itself, then with Sephora Formula X Moon Glow added, and finally Moon Glow over black.

Like all the other Femme Fatale holos, Ink of the Sea was impossible to photograph.  Amazing in real life, but the pictures can never tell the full story.  It is a greyed out blue with a teal flash and purple undertones.  How awesome is that?  Shimmery but not too holo.  Yet, I still love it.  It is the perfect base color for Moon Glow, which was another Xmas gift from Robyn <3

The last pics show Moon glow over Color Club Beyond, which is a black holographic that goes well with sheer color-shifting shimmers (such as here).  I still think that Moon Glow has a lot of potential, and I want to find the perfect match for it.  I am on a mission to make it look as amazing as it does on the bottle.

SV Marshmallow Sky, SV Right Up My Alley, SV Blueberry Fields Forever, and SV Lilac Disco Ball

As I posted on Sunday, in addition to the seasonal collections, there will be some random creations on the SV website throughout the year.  I've called them frankies, in reference to the term 'franken' (what is frankening?).  These four will launch this Friday, January the 9th, at 1:00 p.m. PST.

Marshmallow Sky is a really simple and girly pink.  It is sheer, so I used Butter London Nail Foundation Basecoat (review here), which is what I normally use with jellies and sheers, to hide VNL.  I also did this for the blue one, Blueberry Fields Forever.  The application is really fast and simple after adding basecoat, and it's easier to get away with two coats.  Otherwise, 3 coats by itself should do it.  I added Dior Gel Coat, as I find that it enhances the shimmery effect.  I think these pics show this a bit more blue than it is in real life.  It is also a bit lighter than the camera has captured it here; and also less fuchsia or less 'hot' pink.

Right Up My Alley has an inconspicuous holo effect.  It is paired with the most delicate purple shimmer.  I like that this looks like a regular red crelly from arm length, but upon closer isnpection it has all these interesting qualities that I like in a nail polish.  The holographic effect is not at all like the other SVs, yet I like this one the way it is.  Application was the easiest with this one.

Blueberry Fields Forever and Lilac Disco Ball are my favorites from this restock.  It was not surprising at all, since one is a lilac and the other one shifts to purple.  Blueberry Fields Forever is as stunning as these pictures portray it.  Definitely a keeper in my book.  The shimmer is really nice in real life, not metallic or coarse at all.  The application was nice, but I wouldn't recommend this (or any dark blue jelly) to be applied without a basecoat, since it can seem streaky at the first coat, when it really isn't.  It builds up rather nicely.

Lilac Disco Ball is a rendition of one of my earliest frankens.  It was made without a recipe, so this is the only batch produced, sadly.  It has discontinued iridescent glitters, that glow in the shade rather nicely, but they can be a bit bumpy, so it's definitely better with topcoat.  The holographic effect is blinding.  It has different concoctions of holographic pigments in there, so it is very complex.  Moreover, it's packed with colored shimmery particles that give it added depth.  These shimmers range from different shades of purples and blues (call it the leftovers, if you will), and they each have a slight shift with the light.  It is impossible to capture this on camera accurately, but I did my best.

I hope you all love the first installment of SV frankies.  I am already making more as I type this.
