NailNation Celeb Gift Set

I have wanted this set for a long time, and I am so glad that it now lives in my house.  I wanted to get a good holographic topcoat and Walk of Fame did not disappoint.  I liked how shiny it was and the holographic flame on it.  That being said, I'm still looking for a holographic topcoat that works with whites.  I thought that this one was going to be 'it' since the description said 'grey cancelling", but it did look greyish, when worn over a white creme.  Here, I've paired it with a grey creme too, and I love the effect.  It reminds me of Hits Hefesto, but somehow more sophisticated.

Shine On Me was a bit of a let down, because the base was slightly tinted.  The first time that I tried it, was over a pale baby blue (Nubar Faded Jeans, not shown here), and it changed the color to a greenish aqua.  It has small gold glitters, which really add something special, compared to other gold leaf toppers out there, but I think that they might be the culprit, and might be staining the base (aka bleeding into the base).  I like my toppers clear, so that is why I say that it let me down.  The gold flakies themselves are 24K and look amazing.  However, the yellowish base really limits the options for base colors to pair it with.  Below, I have swatched it over a dark green creme, because that is the way I would wear it.  From now on, I will only wear it over dark colors,

Finally, there is Boardwalk Empire.  This one is certainly worth checking out.  I am not a huge fan of blues, and from the bottle this seemed just ok to me.  But boy oh boy, was I surprised on the very first brush stroke.  This is an amazing cobalt holographic.  It is bright and sort of electrifying.  It is like nothing I have seen before.  I tend to like blues that lean to indigo, otherwise, pure blues just kind of bore me after a while, but not this one!  Even the coveted OPI DS Glamour is completely different to this this shade.

I am really loving NailNation lately.  Maria seems to be on a roll, because she has been launching some really cool collections.  She definitely nailed it with this set.  Boardwalk Empire and the others can be purchased alone.  I highly suggest that blue, even if you are not a blue lover, because swatches do not do it justice.  I tried to capture its awesomeness, but the camera doesn't pick up that 'clean' look that Boardwalk Empire has.
