Shimmer Irene, Taylor, Carmen, Amy and Marilyn

This is the second set of Shimmer Nail Polishes that cannot be layered look just right by themselves and don't need to be layered. For the first set click here.  All of these are two-coaters, except for Irene (shown first). This is a champagne gold that has a classy look to it.  I think I managed to capture its beauty in these pictures.  Taylor is a jelly-esque pink with red undertones.  It is chic and it has a city vibe to it.  The blue glitters come out to play in the dimmest lights.  Carmen is a stunning orange gold.  It is by far the best one, formula-wise, out of all the Shimmers; and possibly out of all the 2-coater glitters I've tried.  I wasn't sure what to expect from just looking at the bottle, because the color is kind of flashy --too loud! I thought-- but I was instantly in love with it once it was on my nails.  Amy is one of those that "grows on you" kind of colors.  I wasn't instantly attracted to it, and I could not understand what was it all about.  Perhaps there was too much going on.  However, after seeing it layered, and seeing this post, I sort of got it.  Lastly, Marilyn, is a hot as its name.  This red glitter is juicy and sophisticated.  After about two coats of topcoat, it looks like a jelly.  The glitters in it are a darkened red, which gives it the depth it needs.  I've used Marilyn before as a base color for another glittery Shimmer, click here to see it.  These lovelies are great for those who prefer glitters that are stand-alone, and don't like to do lots of layering.  They were all pretty amazing, but if I had to pick one, I'd pick Carmen :)

Pretty and Polished Heist looks like real gold

Hmmmm, not sure if I should categorize this as glitter or flakies.  Is it irregularly shaped glitter? or perhaps micro-flakies? At any rate, this is a sparse mix of gold pieces that resemble the real thing.  I'm not sure, maybe it is real gold, but there is not much info out there about this nail polish.

Barry M Ruby Glitter is a black and pink mix

At first glance, I thought the glitter was red, but upon closer inspection I realized that, as the name implies, it is a ruby pink.  I didn't like the tiny black glitters at times, because they looked like I had ants on my nails.  The other black ones were ok, and looked sophisticated.  The overall look is really nice, but I'm wondering, other than grey, what else could I pair this with?  Not sure if you guys agree with me, but I think the color options for the base color are very limiting with a glitter combination such as this one.  Regarding Color Club, it never ceases to amaze me, this brand is very underrated.  For the longest time I was looking for a true grey crelly (creme/jelly finish) like the one shown here, and I finally found it.

Impala Na Mira 3D a glittery holographic with color shift

I've worn this a couple of times, and it's one of my favorite nail polishes (AKA I own 2 back ups of it), and I couldn't figure out why I haven't posted this on the blog yet.  After reviewing the pictures, now I see why.  It's because I cannot manage to capture the duochrome effect, and it's driving me crazy.  It's kind of lame for a blogger to show something, but not show it in all its glory.  Well, you'll just have to trust me that this shifts to pink (?) at certain angles, it's one of those weird colors.  At least, I managed to capture the holographic portion of it in these pictures :) Last picture was intentionally blured to show the holographic effect.

Happy Hands Morgan a glittery blend for purple lovers

I bought this without looking at swatches because a) I love purple and b) I had a good experience with this indie brand before.  It did not dissapoint.  I loved the big squares, wish it had more.  I managed to pick up a couple of them, see if you can spot them on my middle and index fingernails.  This is hard for me to say at this point, because I own so many purple glitters >.< but I find this glitter combination quite unique.

Illamasqua Nail Varnish Duo: Hemloch and Obsess

Hemlock came in a duo, but I don't see it on their website as a duo anymore.  This is a gorgeous neutral.  It reminded me a little bit of Chemistry 241, except this one doesn't shift colors, it just has that mesmerizing green/gold shimmer.  I swatched it on its own, but it can be layered.  I usually check for swatches right after I've swatched something, and here I found some great layering combinations for Hemlock.  It can also be used as a base color for green glitters (see yesterday's post).  Obsess is very similar to Grab (another Illamasqua), but this has a neon finish.  I've showed it here without topcoat, but it looks better with it.  These two are day and night, I have no clue why they gathered them into a duo in the first place.  Illamasqua is very... unpredictable, I guess.  I liked them both, but Hemlock is definitely a gateway nail polish; I've ordered 7 Illas in the past few days, after swatching these :/

Shimmer Kelly

Kelly is the gorgeous green with holographic gold accents.  This reminded me of Christmas, so my first thought was to layer it over red.  It looked great, and applied very nicely.  I loved it by itself the most, because it really is unique, the look turned a few heads while I was wearing it.  The glitters lay flat and it dries super fast, so I highly suggest you try it on its lonesome if you have it or decide to get it.  This is definitely darker than Erica, but I like both equally.  If you don't have a Shimmer with your name on it yet, remember you can order a custom-made here, you can choose the color and the name that you want on the label.  I recently ordered one and I loved it.
