OPI DS Glamour and my thoughts on topcoat for holographics

You've probably seen lots of pictures of OPI DS Glamour.  There's not much to say about it, except that it is a gorgeous blue that leans to purple in some lighting.  It is thought that topcoat dulls holographic nail polishes, but in my experience that has not the case for most holographics.  I have noticed that with Laylas and China Glaze OMG collection it does change the effect a little bit.  I have also noticed that Barielle Manicure Extender looks better with the linear holographics, such as the ones from the Designer Series Collection (like this one, Glamour).  The problem is that sometimes I need a fast drying topcoat, and although Seche Vite or Poshe don't really alter the result, they don't make it better.  Recently, a friend of mine sent me this fast drying Sally Hansen Topcoat, and she raved about how good it was for holographics.  I was skeptical at first, but after I tried it, I really saw a difference.  Now, it's not something that can be seen through a lense.  Unfortunately, I don't have a side-by-side comparison to prove this, you're just going to have to trust me, just like I trusted my friend when she said it.

  1. Ooo! I'm going to have to try that topcoat. How is it in general? Thick? Thin? Does it dry quickly or sort of quick?

  2. Lovely photos - flawless as always!! Love it. I NEED this color. I have this topcoat and it bubbled like crazy on me. I put it aside. Maybe I'll have to come back to it. I don't wear holos because they chip so quickly, so maybe I'll try that with holos and see if it redeems itself. Thanks for the heads up!

    1. Hey maybe you got a bad bottle? Or maybe it doesn't work with other nail polishes, I have only tried it with holos though

  4. I will have to get this TC now…. My method so far has been Holo, TC, Holo…. they still chip though, especially Laylas. But I just use chipping as an excuse to change polish… =)

  5. I just bought this topcoat today based on this post of yours, and you're absolutely right, it's amazing! I sometimes used to avoid using my holos because they'd take so long to dry without my usual fast-dry topcoat, but now this won't be a problem anymore. I put Diamond Flash over my Hits Atena mani on my right hand, and the holo effect is at least as nice as with Atena by itself. Thanks so much for the recommendation!
