Spiderweb & Spider

WARNING: Hey Guys before you read this and scroll down to the pictures, please make sure you have no fear of spiders.  Aracnophobia is very common and I know some people are sensitive, so please stop here if you think you might be scared by picture of a (tiny cartoonish) spider.  I take phobias very seriously, and I know it's halloween, but I really don't want to scare anyone.  So like they say on TV: Viewer Discretion is Advised...

On to the nails.  I really like this one, even though it's creepy enough for halloween, it's girly enough to wear to a daytime halloween party or while doing some halloween shopping.  I can see myself wearing this with anything, white nails go well with everything.  By the way, I think spiderwebs are suposed to be perfectly symetrical, but somebody stepped on this spider ok?

Shattered Nails are perfect for halloween

If you like crackle I have a couple of swatches here, and this one is a Lynderella with crackle that is one of my favorites for Halloween.  I made 3 crackle combinations today, I couldn't decide what combination was better, so I posted all three.  Let me know which one is your fave.  Oh yes and they have names them too.

---------------------------------------------------------

First up, is The Dark Queen, this reminds me of one of the Disney Villans, not sure why.

Layering Order:
Poshe Fast Drying Basecoat
3 coats Color Club Alter Ego (let dry)
1 coat OPI Black Shatter
1 coat CND Effects Violet Shimmer
no topcoat in these pictures

---------------------------------------------------------

Next is The Obvious, made with the traditional halloween colors.

Layering Order:
Poshe Fast Drying Basecoat
2 coats Wet n Wild Craze Inferno (let dry)
1 coat OPI Black Shatter
no topcoat in these pictures

---------------------------------------------------------

Lastly is the The Spooky Pond, duo-chrome crackle? yes, it can be made.

Layering Order:
Poshe Fast Drying Basecoat
1 coat Missha The Style JBL01
1 coat Zoya Adina (let dry)
1 coat OPI Black Shatter
1 coat of a mixture that is 25% Adina and 75% clear*
no topcoat in these pictures

*The easiest way to do this is to put 3 drops of top coat (I used Barielle Manicure Extender) on a plate and 1 drop of Zoya Adina, clean the Zoya brush and mix, polish 2 or 3 nails and start over.  You can mix 6:2 or any other ratio that yields 75% and 25% but if you pour too much on the plate you have to work fast because it might get goopy and dry.  Try it and have fun with it, think of this as a potion when you're mixing, afterall it's Halloween!

Candy Corn

This is rather easy, the harderst part is to make the triangle shape with the brush and acetone, so that the colors pop.

Glow in the Dark Ghosts

I smudged a couple of nails a little bit while adding the second coat of glow in the dark nail polish.  This reminds me to tell my readers that nail art is supposed to be fun, it doesn't have to be perfect.  The overall result is what matters, with lots of patience you do one nail at a time, then "step away from the canvas" and see if it needs tweeking, most of the time it doesn't.  Also remember that people don't look at your nails from a macro lens ;)  Have fun!

 Layering Order:
Poshe Fast Drying Basecoat
2 coats Urban Outfitters White 01
1 coat Wet n Wild Fantasy Makers Glow in the Dark
Wet n Wild Black creme (eyes, mouth)
1 coat Wet n Wild Fantasy Makers Glow in the Dark
no topcoat in these pictures

-----------------------------------------------------------

Update: After reading this wonderful post from Hello, Polish! I went to the store to check if my camera was alright because on my phone I can barely see the ghosts, and it turns out, the Glow in the Dark effect is so much better from those little pumpkins!  here's three coats over white.

Nfu Oh 46 super bright jelly

Although I don't own Deborah Lippmann Supermodel (edit: a friend of mine read this and sent me a bottle, isn't that great?) from the swatches I would say this is very close, of course this one has flakies, which is a nice addition.
